Maybe What You’re Craving Isn’t a Vacation—It’s Connection
Sometimes, when we say, “I need a vacation,” what we really mean is, “I need a break from carrying everything.” A break from being needed, from constantly thinking about what’s next, and from always being the one who holds everything together. And yes, sometimes a beautiful place, a few days away, and some time offline can be exactly what we need. But sometimes, what we're really craving goes a little deeper.

Connection.
I think many of us know what it feels like to be surrounded by people and still feel lonely. We can have full calendars, group chats, coworkers, partners, and family, yet still feel like something is missing. Because being around people isn't always the same as feeling truly seen. There’s something different about having a space where you can talk about what you've been carrying without having to make it sound lighter or pretend that everything is okay.
Maybe you're craving the kind of connection where you can laugh until your stomach hurts, share something vulnerable, drink tea together, or simply sit in silence without feeling like you need to fill the space. The kind where you don't have to be the strong one, the successful one, the good friend, or the woman who has everything figured out. You can just show up as yourself.
I think this is something women quietly miss. As we get older, friendships can become harder to nurture. Everyone has work, relationships, families, responsibilities, and full schedules. We might see each other less, talk less, and sometimes go months without having a real conversation. We stay connected through messages and social media, but that deeper sense of being witnessed and supported can sometimes get lost.
This is one of the reasons I believe so much in gathering women together. Not because we need another thing to add to our schedules, but because we need spaces where we can slow down enough to actually connect — with ourselves and with each other. There’s something really special about sitting in a room with women who may have completely different lives, yet understand what it means to be tired, to be becoming, to be figuring things out, and to simply want a place where they can be themselves.
Sometimes we don't need to go farther away. Sometimes we just need to come a little closer — closer to our bodies, closer to our truth, and closer to other women who remind us that we don't have to do everything alone.
And this is exactly what inspired me to create my Rooted and Wild retreat. It’s more than simply getting away for a few days. It’s an invitation to slow down, step away from the noise of everyday life, reconnect with your body, and spend meaningful time with a beautiful community of women. If you’ve been feeling the need for more space, deeper connection, and a chance to simply be yourself, I’d love to have you join us. Sometimes the most meaningful getaway isn't about escaping your life, but creating enough space to return to yourself.
So the next time you find yourself thinking, “I really need a vacation,” maybe pause for a moment and ask yourself what you’re actually craving. Is it rest? Space? Being cared for? A deeper conversation? A sense of belonging? Or maybe it’s simply having someone sit beside you and say, “I get it.”
Maybe what you’re craving isn't an escape. Maybe you're craving connection. And maybe coming back to yourself can begin there.
Come slow down, reconnect, and make space for yourself.
